tbh lately i’ve been feeling like an atheist who goes to mass because it’s nice because my belief in god is close to nonexistent at this point and my feelings towards the church are verging on anger because of the horrible things my mom’s been through recently with nuns and priests who are behaving like jerks or worse and fellow catholics who are ridiculously sanctimonious and have zero understanding and compassion and is that fair of me? probably not? but i can’t help it.

everything is confusing.

one night years ago i was looking at the Crucifux by my bed and all of the sudden it just hit me that God loved us so much that he sent his son to become man and suffer and die. for us. to save us, who are so unworthy. i cried and cried with happiness. and for the next 2 or 3 months, i was so in love with God. i can’t even describe it. it was perfect love and gratefulness but it wasn’t…corny. it was just perfect.

i was so happy all the time. i felt like i was dreaming. i was so kind to everyone. even the thought of sinning made me feel physically ill. to hurt God…it was an awful, sick, evil thing.

and then, as quickly as it came, it was just gone. it was like a light went out. and i was filled with anger and bitterness towards everyone and everything, especially God. did i do something to kill it? did i not deserve it anymore? and from then until this day, things have never been the same. i think it’s the cause of my flimsy relationship with him. i’m always questioning whether he loves me. whether he’s there.
